A note on this production: I don’t know how I failed so spectacularly to capture production photos, except to say that we were all too busy building an immersive, complex, inventive, twisty-turny world. GUMSHOE was not exactly a play, nor an interactive DIY mystery, nor an escape room, but it was some combination of all three. I was the costume designer, sure, but also part of a creative ensemble helping to develop character, story, game, and structure alongside the actors and other creatives in early workshops. My mood boards, for the most part, accurately reflect the design of the characters in the final performance. I loved working on this piece, especially the chance to stretch some creative muscles beyond costume design in such a unique and beautiful setting.
